What is South Shields Town Centre Pubwatch
SSTC Pubwatch is a community based prevention scheme and is organised by the town centre licensees to afford each other confidence and support, as well as some form of protection. South Shields is now in the process of developing for the future and there is a real chance for licensees to provide the most exciting nightlife as well as to find new and exciting ways to enhance the town centre experience collectively. The Pub Watch members pioneered the use of CCTV and radio links with the police to prevent trouble makers entering the towns bars and clubs by providing rapid, accurate and efficient communication, about incidents and potential problems, with other licenses, police, CCTV control room and the town security officers. SSTC Pubwatch also provides a forum for the discussion and solution of problems relating to violence on licensed premises and also aims to work behind the scenes to self-regulate its own members thus ensuring they are taking the most positive initiatives responsibly.
